Malachi Brown (he/him) is a versatile cellist and composer from Norfolk, Virginia. He honed his craft in music composition and cello performance at Old Dominion University and Ithaca College. He is a passionate collaborator who embraces projects where he can imprint his unique artistic voice.
As a performer, Malachi has shared stages with Toshi Reagon, Sigur Rós, and Ellie Goulding, and made his Lincoln Center debut in The Parable of the Sower. His work with the Wordless Music Orchestra and Mac-Haydn Theatre highlights his genre-spanning artistry. A member and resident composer for the Dream Quartet, he merges expressive cello performance with innovative approaches to sound.
His compositions include scores for And Don’t Forget I Love You—an award-winning documentary—and The Candy Lady, which premiered internationally this year. Based in New York City, Malachi continues to expand his multifaceted career across concert, film, and collaborative performance.
